What is the difference between RAM and storage?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is temporary memory your computer uses to hold data that is actively being processed. It's extremely fast but loses all its contents when the power is off. Think of it as your desk workspace where you keep things you're currently working on. Storage, such as a hard drive or SSD, is where data is permanently saved, including your operating system, apps, and files. It retains data even when powered off but is slower to access than RAM. Think of it as a filing cabinet. More RAM means your computer can handle more tasks simultaneously without slowing down, while more storage means you can save more files and programs.
